LOVE AND MISS COMMUNICATION review by Gracia Requena
This session has been
quite peculiar, as both of us grew disillusionment with the book. I am afraid
that this book is not what we expected to be and as I see it, some of the
reviews that we read are quite lenient.
We chose this book
because we anticipated that the topic might be quite interesting. We live in a
technological world where you have to use the Internet for almost everything.
In fact, the use of social networking sites has come to the fore, due to the
fact that people are becoming obsessed with them. The majority of us waste our
entire life checking our Facebook account or our emails, but realistically, none
of us are thinking that it is high time to call it quits and give it up definitely,
that is what Evie, the main character in the book, has decided to do.
We expected a gripping
book where we could face how difficult it is to live without the Internet
nowadays, but we didn’t find that. To make matters worse, the character
portrays the stereotypical American woman, that means girls who have an
obsession with their appearance and their main aim is to get married to a
wealthy man.
To be blunt, reading
this book is like being forced to watch a “chick flick” for three weeks on the
trot. Besides, the plot is utterly predictable. Although I was sick and tired
of the book, I did just grin and bear it and kept reading until the end. Nevertheless,
I was tempted to throw in the towel twice.
Definitely, I would not recommend this tedious
book because it is not the kind of book I am used to reading.
